Are you ready to take on the challenge? Choose your own experience—hike, bike, or run on your own, or join us for a guided group hike and discover the beauty of this scenic trail together.
With a challenging 7-mile route, you’ll push your limits through rugged terrain, diverse habitats, and newly established trail sections. Along the way, we may spot signs of spring, including the delicate Bloodroot flower in bloom.
Choose your adventure—join the group hike for a guided experience or take on the challenge solo at your own pace. Either way, the goal is the same: embrace the wild, push your limits, and conquer the trail!
Complete the challenge by 2 PM on Sunday, April 6th to earn your Blood Root Challenge completion medal. Are you ready to take on the trail?
To earn your Blood Root Challenge completion medal, register below and complete the challenge by 2 PM on Sunday, April 6th. During your hike, take a picture of a Blood Root Trail blaze and afterwards visit the Wildlands Conservancy table at the trailhead off Alpine Street to claim your medal.
Details:
• Location: South Mountain Preserve
• Difficulty: Difficult – 7 miles of moderate to strenuous terrain
• Length: 7 miles total, estimated duration: 5 hours
• Parking: Street parking is available along Alpine Street and Fernwood Street but may be limited.
• Restroom Info: Bathrooms at Boroline Park will be closed for the season. The nearest available bathrooms are at Turkey Hill on Emmaus Ave, about 1 mile away.
What to Bring:
• A backpack to carry your gear
• Plenty of water
• High-energy snacks to fuel you for the challenge
• A packed lunch to enjoy on or after you’ve conquered the trail
