About the Event

Hike AND eat! Even if you don’t want to hike, join us at the Apple Fest at noon. Bring family and friends. Be transported to earlier days of simple games and slate “tablets” at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse.

The Hike

• Explore the Sandra Yerger Community Recreation Area, a former golf course now transformed into a 148-acre nature preserve.
• Walk through gentle, rolling landscapes with grassy paths and small groves of trees.
• AHD-accessible loop available.
• A great spot for wildlife viewing and, in winter, cross-country skiing.

What to Bring

• Sturdy footwear for the hike
• Hiking poles (optional)
• Camera to capture the charm of the one-room schoolhouse
• Bathrooms: Portable toilet at Woodland Hills; full restrooms at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse

Directions

1. Take I-78 to Exit 67 (PA 412).
2. Turn left onto PA 412 and continue a short distance to Cherry Lane.
3. Turn left onto Cherry Lane for 0.5 miles.
4. Turn left onto Easton Road and follow for 2.1 miles.
5. Turn left onto Country Side Lane and drive 0.8 miles to the parking area on your right.
6. After the hike, continue down the road to the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse (4216 Country Side Lane).
7. At the schoolhouse, turn left to access the parking lot.
