Join us for a hands-on Trail Building Training designed to equip volunteers with the skills needed to help maintain and improve Wildlands Conservancy’s nature preserves. Well-maintained trails ensure safe and enjoyable access for visitors while also protecting the surrounding natural environment. This training will teach you the essential techniques to keep trails in top condition!
What You’ll Learn:
- Pruning & Clearing Trails: Learn best practices for trimming vegetation and maintaining clear, accessible paths.
- Identifying & Correcting Trail Issues: Gain skills in addressing small trail problems such as minor erosion, uneven surfaces, and drainage concerns.
- Sustainable Trail Maintenance: Understand how to maintain trails in a way that minimizes environmental impact while improving visitor experience.
- Hands-On Practice: Get real-world experience working on the trails under the guidance of Wildlands Conservancy’s Stewardship team.
What to Bring:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots
- Work gloves
- Water, snacks, and sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
- Long pants and clothing suitable for outdoor work
- Pruning tools -pruners, lopers, hand saws; No power tools. Wildlands will have a few tools to lend for the day.

This training is perfect for both new and experienced volunteers who want to take an active role in keeping Wildlands Conservancy’s preserves safe and accessible. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty!
