Hoot Hike & Owl Research at Black River Sanctuary
Saturday, November 8, 2025

Join Wildlands Conservancy for a special evening at Black River Sanctuary as we explore the secret lives of owls!

The program begins with an opportunity to meet one of our resident owl ambassadors up close, then we’ll embark on a moderate to difficult 1-mile hike through the sanctuary. Along the way, we’ll listen for owl calls, learn how to identify different species, and discover fascinating insights into their nocturnal behaviors.

We’re thrilled to welcome special guest Brandon Swayser from Davinci Science Center, who will share his expertise and knowledge about owl ecology and conservation, and guide us in better understanding the research taking place on the preserve.

Please note: Some sections of the trail are steep, rocky, and rooty, and the program takes place after dark. Participants should bring a red-light headlamp or flashlight (some will be available to borrow).

Your registration matters! Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance.

Come ready for adventure, dress for the weather, and don’t forget your sense of wonder!
