At Wildlands Conservancy, we’ve installed nest boxes throughout the scenic Thomas Darling Preserve to support and monitor these elusive creatures. So far, several of the more common Southern Flying Squirrels have made these boxes their home, giving us a fascinating glimpse into the forest’s dynamic wildlife.\n\nThis is more than just a hike—it’s a scientific exploration of one of Pennsylvania’s most unique and ecologically significant landscapes. Join us as we venture through this vast 1,300-acre preserve, home to one of the state’s largest and most pristine spruce forests.
