Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour

Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour at Louise Moore Park

Join Wildlands Conservancy for a hands-on Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour at Louise Moore Park. This immersive conservation experience provides an opportunity to directly support monarch butterfly populations and restore crucial pollinator habitats in the Lehigh Valley. Led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist and a Wildlands Environmental Educator, this event is designed to connect participants with Wildlands’ mission to protect and restore the region's natural landscapes, while fostering environmental stewardship through science and education.

Program Highlights:

  • Monarch Tagging as Citizen Science
Under the expert guidance of our Environmental Educator, participants will learn how to carefully capture and tag monarch butterflies as they prepare for their migration to Mexico. By contributing to this important citizen science project, you’ll help track monarch populations and support international efforts to monitor their migration and survival.

  • Meadow Restoration
Led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist, participants will take part in hands-on restoration efforts to enhance vital pollinator habitats. You'll learn about the role of native meadows in supporting monarchs and other pollinators, then work alongside our experts to plant native species and remove invasive plants to improve the habitat quality for these important creatures. Planting will be tentative based on plant availability.

This program is offered free of charge through funding from Northampton County.

Perfect for:
Nature enthusiasts, conservation advocates, educators, and volunteers looking to make a tangible difference in the protection of monarch butterflies and their habitats.

Weasel Watch: Hands-On Wildlife Monitoring

Discover the hidden world of Pennsylvania’s most elusive mammals and take part in real conservation science. Join Wildlands Conservancy at Maple Tract Preserve as we assist with a multi-year effort to study weasels and other rarely seen small mammals using remote wildlife cameras.

During this hands-on field program, participants will help set up wildlife camera traps, learn how researchers monitor secretive species, and explore why small mammal conservation matters to healthy ecosystems. Along the way, we’ll hike through forests, wetlands, and rocky terrain while searching for signs of wildlife and discussing habitat needs and animal behavior.

Participants should be prepared to hike 1–3 miles over moderate, uneven terrain that may include rocks, roots, mud, and wet areas.

  • Sturdy footwear is recommended.
  • Help deploy wildlife camera traps
  • Learn about active weasel research and conservation
  • Explore diverse habitats at Maple Tract Preserve
  • Contribute to real community science efforts

Perfect for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and aspiring citizen scientists alike.

Stream Team 2026: Gall Farm

Stream Team Gall Farm

If you’re ready to go with the flow, join us as we maintain vegetative areas along streams (riparian buffers) and help ensure the survival of young, native trees in the forest buffer. These vital areas improve water quality in local communities, reduce erosion and flooding concerns, and provide habitat for wildlife.

Park: park in grass/gravel pull, off area along the road at 711 Gall Rd, Easton, PA 18040

This site has no formal address, please follow the map link below to locate the parking area.
